As a result, Tattoo2 printers will no longer be sold from December 31, 2011 onwards. However, orders will be met only if placed by
December 16, 2011 at the latest.

Both, consumables and replacement parts for the Tattoo2 will remain available after the sale of the Tattoo2 ceases.

If your have a large Tattoo2 usage or inventory, please report any issue that may arise from this end-of-sale scenario to Total ID Solutions, Inc. We will forward your concerns to Evolis so they can study each case, cater to specific user requirements, and avoid complaints and litigations.

Please notify any additional direct users about this End-Of-Sale as quickly as possible.

To enable your migration from Tattoo2 to Zenius, the Total ID Solutions, Inc. team is at your disposal for any information or request for support that you may need.

Note that tests carried out by Evolis, and Total ID Solutions, Inc. shows that Zenius is close to 100% compatible with Tattoo2. Furthermore, the Linux and Mac OSX printer drivers will be available in February 2012.

INTRODUCING THE LONG RANGE PAXTON KEYFOB

November 16th, 2011 | No Comments

Do you have a facility that needs to simplify access for those with special needs, or where 5-10 feet is required to enter a gate or door?

Introducing the NET2AIR Hands Free family from Paxton. The NET2AIR Keyfob is an access control token that can be placed within a pocket, handbag, or on a keychain and operates without direct contact. The 3-dimensional battery-operated antenna ensures that the long range is maximized regardless of orientation within the reader RF range. This is useful for gates and barriers, loading doors or in facilities where ADA accessibility is a concern.

Depending on the distance required (2′ – 15′), the NET2AIR Keyfob works in conjunction with the Paxton standard P Series proximity readers and the Hands Free accessory board. This allows simultaneous operation of passive cards/fobs to work at typical range while those with NET2AIR Hands Free Keyfob to get the longer range.

For extremely long range, personnel can use the NET2AIR Keycard (with buttons) to reach a operating range of 160 feet. The NET2AIR family is an excellent choice for ADA-compliant or elder care facilities, vehicle entrances, cleaning crews, or any entrance requiring a simple, hands free solution.

Contact Total ID Solutions, Inc. directly for more information or for quoting on your next Paxton system.

Total ID Solutions Launches New YouTube Channel Initiative

November 3rd, 2011 | No Comments

In an effort to reach potential new customers and support existing customers, in a multi-platform environment, Total ID Solutions, Inc. announced that the company has developed a new online video channel through YouTube.

Our company’s goal with this channel expansion is to generate additional traffic to our main site, and offer an expanded (24/7) support window. Our support department is currently open from 8am to 5pm EST, which can leave some of our west coast customers in the dark when it comes to getting their questions answered. The videos uploaded to YouTube should help aleviate some of their troubles concerns.

Since more and more companies are using the Internet to find and retrieve information, it just makes sense to add videos. Watching a video is typically easier than reading a long article, especially if you’re a visual person. The videos will be short and informative.

These new videos started rolling out in October, 2011; Total ID will continue pushing its new content on a weekly basis. According to YouTube, video content will be accessible on any device that can gain Internet connectivity and all the social features of YouTube, like the ability to share on Facebook or Twitter, will be integrated with the new service.

According to the YouTube web site, "Founded in February 2005, YouTube allows billions of people to discover, watch and share originally-created videos. YouTube provides a forum for people to connect, inform, and inspire others across the globe and acts as a distribution platform for original content creators and advertisers large and small." Our channel will expose us to new audiences and help us engage potential customers. This platform will create opportunities for us to promote our products and services, along with answering some customer’s questions.

Evolis Quantum – New Enhancements

September 30th, 2011 | No Comments

The Evolis Quantum® card printer has the most "modular printing and encoding system" available in the direct to plastic card printing industry.

The Quantum® is a one of a kind plastic card printer because it has "the power of industrial machines for centralized personalization combined with the simplicity of a desktop printer."

The Quantum® has received some new enhancements and features do to the requests and feedback from Evolis partners and Quantum users. Watch the video below to see some of the improvements :

According to Evolis, "the main improvements have been carried out on the card hoppers", however, Evolis has also "improved the card feeding mechanism in order to get a better performance with slighlty bended cards."

Below is a list of the Quantum® improvements, which will enable the users to "save time and increase the productivity of Quantum®."

Improvements to the card hoppers:

  • The hopper doors have been redesigned in order to enable users/operators to load or withdraw cards without having to detach the hopper feeders from the printers.
  • The weight of the feeder has been modified to improve usability when handling the feeder (magnet-based holding and improved weight mobility within the hopper).
  • To make the printer even more robust, the plastic locking pins located at the base of the hoppers are now made of a sturdy alloy: Zamac.
  • The installation and removal of the feeders are made easier, thanks to an ‘unlock’ actuator made of metal.

Additional improvements to the Quantum®:

  • The loading of slighlty bended cards has been simplified, thanks to a full redesigning of the loading system that now benefits from a spring-loaded latch.
  • The push/pull access feature of the encoding module is more efficient.
  • For easy operation, the cleaning card can be placed on the feeder without having to insert it in the hopper.
  • This new printer model allows for the use of cards with a thickness of 0.76 mm (30 mil) to 1 mm (40 mil), with automated gauging.

New Zebra Value Class Printer Firmware

December 8th, 2010 | No Comments

New Zebra Value Class Printer Firmware

The Value class card printers – P100i™, P110m™, P110i™ and P120i™ – introduce support for a new firmware release, version 2.00. This new firmware replaces the current version 1.18.25, and is compatible with the current Value class driver version 8.00.

The new firmware v2.00 supports the following:

  • Automatic switching between the card feeder and the manual single-feed modes.

        •   A setting via a firmware command allows the printer to accept a card from either the front single-feed slot or the card feeder hopper. If a card is inserted in the front feed slot, the printer will use this card instead of the cards in the card feeder hopper.

        •  The current card feeder and single-feed modes are still supported.
  • New color sensor LED that senses the color ribbon panels.

        •  The new firmware is compatible with the current color sensor LED.

Below is the table showing the compatibility for the Value class printers with the new firmware and current driver.

Important Note: The new firmware is only compatible with the driver version indicated below. Please install both the firmware and associated driver.

Printer Model  Firmware Version  Driver Version
P100i  2.00  8.00
P110m
P110i
P120i

Once the new version of firmware is released by Zebra, for the Value Class card printers, it will be available for download on the Total Id Solutions Online Support page. The v8.0 driver will also be available on the same page.

Visitor Management Systems are essential parts of any security plan

June 9th, 2010 | No Comments

Electronic Visitor Management Systems are becoming widely regarded as an essential part of physical security infrastructure in any building regardless of size. Visitor Management Systems are being adopted across the board in many industries including:

Health care facilities, schools and other educational buildings, corporations of all sizes, multi-tenant buildings, etc. All of the above industries have a common goal of monitoring visitor traffic through consistent registration and visitor policy enforcement procedures.

You can enhance your access control and perimeter security systems by providing a simple and effective way to register, badge, track and manage your facility’s visitor traffic.

Your lobby or front office is your first line of defense and your visitors first impression. With increased threats, the traditional method of using a log book and generic paper visitor tags leaves you vulnerable. Total ID Solutions can offer simple and effective ways to gain better control of your visitor traffic. With our highly sophisticated digital visitor management systems, visitors are identified, potential threats are flagged, expected visitors can be pre-registered, badges are issued, and visitors are tracked while on the premises.

Total ID Solutions offers multiple software packages to fit your particular needs. All systems offer unprecedented control and enforcement of visitor security policies. They are enterprise level systems that can leverage your existing security/network infrastructure to offer a flexible and open solution.

Digital Visitor Management Systems will:

• Determine who is in your facility at all times
• Identify unwanted visitors (silly offender or denied parties lists are fully integrated)
• Eliminate abuse of visitor badges (photos can be put onto the tag and self-expiring tags are available)
• Protect the confidentiality of visitors (no more searching through the visitor log book to see who has been in previously)
• Facilitate communication between hosts, visitors, and security personnel (fully integrated with email services)
• Improve lobby and security desk productivity (self-registration kiosks can free up valuable resources)

How does it work?

In a matter of a few seconds:

1. Scan a business card or drivers license to gather information about the visitor. For pre-registered and returning visitors, badges may already be waiting for the visitor upon arrival and simply need to be scanned for check in.
2. Take a photo of the visitor and log it into the visitor’s electronic record.
3. Discretely perform security checks to ensure the visitor is expected, not on a visitor watch list, and have the visit authorized in real-time.
4. Print an professional looking badge with the visitors name, photo, expiration time, valid access areas and any other required information. Visitor badges can be printed on thermal direct label printers, ink jet or laser color printers or dye-sub plastic card printers. Visitor badges can have features such as time-expiring stamps or tamper-resistant inks.
